History
Jonathan Gitlen graduated from the George Washington University Law School in 2010. In that time, he has represented the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section in negotiations with the Department of Justice, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Government Accounting Office. His work on collateral consequences has affected the criminal practice of law nationwide. And as an advocate for federal prisoners seeking early release through executive clemency, Mr. Gitlen has one of the highest success rates for clemency petitions granted under President Obama’s New Clemency Initiative. As a civil attorney, Mr. Gitlen has worked on plaintiff’s class action litigation against some of the largest companies worldwide including, Honeywell, Tesla Motors, and Navient.
Mr. Gitlen decided to open his own law practice in January 2020, because he saw that ordinary people and businesses frequently would not receive competent and effective representation in their legal disputes. He saw attorneys that would charge exorbitant fees while providing nominal services. He saw attorneys that would take irresponsible shortcuts in the representation of their clients, because the law had become just a business to them. Excellent representation should be available to all.
